FAQ: Should My Hypnotist / Hypnotherapist Be Certified?

When considering utilizing the help of a hypnotherapist or a hypnotist, it is highly recommended that your hypnotist be formally trained (i.e. have attended a brick and mortar school / done formal classroom work). The school providing this training should be state-certified and not ‘online’. Like any mental health profession, there are good and bad therapists out there, proper education improves the chances your hypnotist is knowledgeable and able to offer the most help.

Your hypnotherapist must also be certified and most importantly knowledgeable and experienced with hypnosis coaching or hypnotherapy. Choosing a competent hypnotherapist will ensure faster and better results and will maximize the benefit of your hypnosis sessions and suggestions. In some rare instances, hurtful memories may surface. Adverse reactions, such as headache, dizziness and nausea, can happen but are very uncommon. A trained hypnotherapist or hypnotist will easily calm you, and will use everything you experience to enhance your hypnosis session further.

Use caution before allowing a hypnotherapist to help you restore lost memories. In this type of hypnosis, some people actually create “memories” from their imagination, this is called memory distortion of false memory creation. These “implanted memories” can be troubling to you and your loved ones. You should not undergo this this type of hypnosis unless your hypnotists is trained and experienced.

Experienced hypnotists can make every hypnosis session productive, positive, relaxing and allow you to use the power of your unconscious mind to heal yourself and rid yourself of hurtful habits. You will leave the office feeling better than when you walked in, every time.

By going to a trained hypnotist, you will likely trust them more. Trusting the knowledge, professionalism and ethical conduct of your hypnotist are ‘extremely’ helpful, and can save you time and money.

FAQ: What’s the Key Game?

Have you ever misplaced your keys or glasses and right away started following a specific sequence of hand movements? i.e. touch the jacket pockets, touch your pants pockets, check your back pockets?

This automatic sequence happens without your thinking of it. Then you notice the keys were in front of you, as if they magically re-appeared (they were there all the time but you didn’t see them) that means you were in a brief state of trance.

FAQ: Will I Have Amnesia?

A small number of people who go into a deep hypnotic state experience amnesia. Time distortion and not being able to recite everything that was said during a hypnosis session are classical signs of being in a trance.

However, most people, if they try, will remember more about what occurred during hypnosis. The conscious mind is never gone, it’s always there and one could use it if they need to.

FAQ: What About Stage Hypnosis Shows?

It is important to see the words ’stage’ and ’show’ here.

Stage shows are based on two concepts:

  1. The cooperation principal: The individuals on the stage are all volunteers, wanting to be on the stage.
  2. The willingness (and eagerness to) follow suggestions: These individuals are asked if they are willing to follow the hypnotist’s suggestions.

Only those  that have the desire, personality and are disposed to follow such suggestions of acting out on the stage are selected. Others are discretely sent back to their seats.
